About

Clark Swanson is an American entrepreneur operating at the intersection of healthtech, artificial intelligence, consumer products, life sciences, fintech, and energy.

Mr. Swanson is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Engineered Energy, a next-generation mining and infrastructure company focused on power development, high-performance computing (HPC), and artificial intelligence workloads. In addition to this work, Mr. Swanson serves as the founder and CEO.

Previously, Mr. Swanson was the Co-Founder, President & Chief Executive Officer of Blockcap, which he scaled to become the world’s largest bitcoin mining enterprise by hashrate. In 2021, Blockcap was acquired in a $4.6 billion transaction with Core Scientific (Nasdaq: CORZ) that valued Mr. Swanson’s company at $1.46 billion USD.

In 2018, Mr. Swanson co-founded Flavocure Biotech, Inc., where he served as Vice Chairman. The company advanced novel cancer research in collaboration with Harvard Medical School, including the development of targeted nano-delivery therapies that demonstrated statistically significant in vivo results across multiple cancer types. This work contributed to an Investigational New Drug (IND) pathway and approval for human clinical trials.

In connection with this work, Mr. Swanson was a co-founding member of the Harvard Medical School Phytomedicine Institute and contributed to initiatives including the Global Phytomedicine Institute (GPI), the Global Oncology University, and the Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Cloud (C4)—an AI-powered platform designed to expand access to cancer research, education, and care globally.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Swanson co-authored a patent that served as the backbone for the development and testing of novel SARS-CoV-2 therapeutics. These efforts were recognized by the scientific community, and the research was published in several leading medical journals.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Swanson co-founded and served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Blackline Safety, which was recognized as one of Canada’s top technology startups. Under his leadership, the company achieved a valuation of approximately $500 million and received numerous industry accolades, including IDC’s “Top 10 to Watch,” TSX 50, Profit 500, and Deloitte Fast 500.

He is also the founder of Halo Beauty, a consumer wellness brand that surpassed one million units sold and achieved a valuation exceeding $100 million within its early years of operation.

In addition to his commercial ventures, Mr. Swanson is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Swanson Calderon Foundation, which supports initiatives in mental health, wellness, and the development of scalable, technology-enabled care solutions. 

He is also a dedicated father of four.

EDUCATION

Mr. Swanson studied at Pepperdine University, graduating in 1995 with a degree in economics. He went on to pursue his Master’s in Business Administration from the Graziadio School of Business & Management where he graduated with distinction in 2003.
